Overview

This sermonic lesson explores the certainty, glory, and transformative power of Jesus Christ’s return through the revelation of these three (3) biblical figures who received it from the Godhead.

In-Context

The Second Coming of Jesus, called so because He was on Earth prior, is a foundational Christian doctrine. It promises an imminent return to judge the world, establish His kingdom, and fulfill The Father’s promise of redemption to the Israel of God.

In today’s world of global conflicts, natural disasters, and moral decline—Saints of Yah need to anchor their hope that Jesus will completely fulfill all promises.

The disciple John, later an apostle, had an apocalyptic vision, the apostle Paul’ pastoral encouragement, and Daniel’s prophetic imagery provide a multi-faceted understanding of Jesus coming back which should spur the people of Yah to a prepared and faithful lifestyle.

Scriptural Provision:

1. Revelation 19:11–16: John said, “I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True... His name is the Word of God.”

2. 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17: Paul offer, “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command... and the dead in Christ will rise first.”

3. Daniel 7:13–14: “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man... His dominion is an everlasting dominion.”

Other supportive texts:

1. Matthew 24:30–31: “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven... and they will see the Son of Man coming.”

2. 2 Peter 3:10: “The day of the Lord will come like a thief.”

3. Acts 1:11: “This same Jesus... will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

4. Titus 2:13: “We wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

Three (3) Key Points:

Point #1: Jesus Will Return Whether Christians Are Ready or Not

>>Unpacking<< John’s Book of Revelation shows Jesus’s return as an undeniable reality, marked by divine authority which provides hope to the Saints and terror to the lost.

Point #2: Believers (Saints) Celebrate the Hope of the Second Coming

>>Unpacking<< Paul emphasizes resurrection and rapture, offering comfort and hope to believers facing persecution or loss.

Point #3: Jesus’s Return Will Be Glorious

>> Unpacking<< Daniel’s vision reveals the eternal kingship of the Son of Man, establishing God’s unshakeable kingdom.

Three Big Ideas (from Key Points)

Idea #1: The Certainty of The Lord’s Arrival:

a. Divine Authority: The Lord Jesus’s return as King of kings, and the Lord of lords will demonstrate a sovereign and universally unmatched power (Revelation 19:16).

b. Justice Fulfilled: He judges the nations with righteousness, ending evil (Revelation 19:11).

c. Visible Return: Every eye will see Him, undeniable to all (Revelation 1:7).

Idea #2: There is Hope in and of the Lord’s Coming:

a. Resurrection Promise: The dead in Christ rise first, defeating humankind’s final enemy; death from sin (1 Thessalonians 4:16).

b. Rapture Assurance: Believers will be caught up to meet Jesus in the air (literally), ensuring eternal fellowship (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

c. Comfort in Trials: The promise of His return strengthens believers in their times of suffering (1 Thessalonians 4:18).

Idea #3: The Glory of His Coming:

a. Eternal Dominion: The Messiah’s kingdom will never end, unlike earthly powers which will dry up into the dust (Daniel 7:14).

b. Universal Worship: All nations will serve Jesus the Messiah, uniting humanity under His rule (Daniel 7:14).

c. Jesus is Glorified: The Son of Man is glorified, fulfilling God’s redemptive plan (Daniel 7:13).

Sermon Summation:

The Second Coming of Jesus Christ is the climax of God’s redemptive plan for us, His created image and likeness. This event unites the visions of John, Paul, and Daniel. John assures us of its certainty, Paul instills hope through the promise of resurrection and being snatched away (raptured), and Daniel reveals the glorious, eternal kingdom of the Son of Man.

Together, these servants of Yahweh call believers to live with expectancy, holiness, and mission. This hope sustains us through trials, anchors our faith, and compels us to share the gospel.

Closing:

Call to Action: Are you and your loved ones ready for the Second Coming of the King of Kings? Live each day with vigilance, pursuing holiness and sharing the gospel. Let the certainty, hope, and glory of His coming shape your life.

Prayer:

(Preacher’s Choice)

Benediction: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, awaiting the glorious appearing of our Savior, Jesus Christ” (Romans 15:13).
